CRAFTSMEN ARE BOTH OUR PAST AND OUR FUTURE
We honor the craftsmen among us — the ones that bring product designs to life — because without them our world would not be what it is today. The role of the skilled craftsman has lost its stature as manufacturing has become a smaller part of the American economy and tradition. While our economy has given way to new worlds of work, many of which are based in the digital realm (website design, electronic game coding and social media application development among them), we can’t lose sight of what it means to be a craftsman. Robotics, 3D printing, and drones are breathing new life into the idea of making things again; these enterprises demonstrate a marriage of craftsmanship and the digital world. Young people are now embracing this new world, opening up a potential resurgence of value being placed on the skilled craftsman.
At Machine Research, it’s our calling to support both the craftsmen of old and the new generation of digital and physical craftspeople. It’s suddenly cool again to make things, and we are proud to provide a forward-looking, cloud-based platform where the essence of craft can be captured, archived, and easily searched with revolutionary shape search technology. Making craftsmen successful in today’s digital world is our highest calling.
